Fibreglass Acoustic Insulation
Fibreglass Acoustic insulation comes in various forms such as Acoustic Partition Roll. This is generally used for filling stud partition walls or in between floors. APR is a low density acoustic insulation product meaning that it will only slightly reduce sound compared to more dense Rockwool acoustic insulation. If you require to install sound insulation in something like a recording studio then we would recommend looking at the Rockwool RW insulation range. Rockwool is a far denser product than the fibreglass sound insulation. This means it will absorb more sound and is an ideal insulation where loud noises need reducing. Another very good acoustic insulation material is the Knauf insulation Full Fill party wall slab. These insulation slabs are used to fill masonry cavity party walls between terraced and semi detached houses or adjoining apartment walls. Glass mineral wool acoustic roll products have both good thermal and acoustic properties.
Sound insulation is usually installed by friction fitting between timber or metal studs. Acoustic partition roll comes in 25 mm , 50 mm , 75 mm and 100 mm thick rolls. These rolls of insulation are all split for 600 mm stud centres and the 100 mm can also be split for 400 mm joist spacing. Each thickness of acoustic insulation has a different pack coverage area. Party Wall acoustic slabs come in thicknesses of 50 mm and 100 mm in slabs of 1200 x 455 mm.
