Ecotherm Cavity Insulation
Ecotherm Cavity wall boards are a specially designed as a partial fill cavity wall insulation solution. Importantly this Ecotherm insulation is cut into 1200 x 450 mm sheets that can be easily installed into a cavity wall. These cavity boards are sized to suit building regulations recommended wall tie spacing. When installing Ecotherm Cavity wall between the two masonry skins, the boards should always be staggered so no joints line up. Staggering the joints reduces the chance of moisture ingress and provides greater thermal stability. Furthermore Ecotherm cavity wall insulation boards should be held in place via an appropriate insulation retaining disc. These insulation clips would be attached to a suitable wall tie. A fine tooth saw is recommended for cutting the cavity insulation boards if required. When cutting as with all High performance Ecotherm insulation a dust mask should be worn at all times during the process.
When installing these cavity wall boards a minimum of 25 mm clear cavity should be left as this is a partial fill cavity insulation material only. It should also be noted that N.H.B.C. at the time of writing require the provision of a minimum of a 50 mm clear cavity in the construction.
Ecotherm cavity is manufactured in various thicknesses from 40 mm up to 100 mm. This range of sizes should cover most construction projects. It has a low thermal conductivity Lambda value of 0.022 W/m K providing a superb insulation material. This product is also listed as approved by the energy savings trust.
