Kooltherm Insulated Plasterboard
Kingspan Kooltherm insulated plasterboard range consists of K118 which is the paper backed board. This is designed for dot and dab applications using drywall adhesive. It is advised to use a few mechanical fixings on these boards at the same time as fixing with drywall adhesive.
This insulated wallboard replaces the Kooltherm K17 and Kooltherm K18 insulated plasterboards and has a higher thermal conductivity. Approximate coverage of the drywall adhesive is three boards per bag. This Kooltherm insulated plasterboard has a Euroclass B-s1,d0 fire rating and a superb low thermal conductivity as low as 0.022W/m K. Kingspan Kooltherm K118 laminated wallboard is the mechanical fixed equivalent of the Kingspan K17. Both of these boards are a modified resin insulation board laminated to 12.5 mm tapered edge standard plasterboard.
Costs of Kooltherm insulated plasterboard
Although it can work out more expensive than buying the separate plasterboard and insulation sheets it can save labour costs by being a single fix product enabling a far more quicker installation. I guess it would depend on whether or not you are fixing the product yourself or employing a builder to do it for you. Whether or not its financially better to use this all in one or install separately. Importantly it must be noted that the backing on these insulation boards are phenolic foam. This being a far superior thermal insulation to polystyrene and PIR insulation boards which can also be found laminated to plasterboard.
