Insulation Jointing Tape
Insulation jointing tape is the most commonly used accessory for insulation. This type of foil insulation tape is used with PIR and Phenolic insulation boards that have foil facings. Foil tape should be used when installing foil faced insulation boards on a floors and roofs. So for instance on a floor insulation project you would need to seal all joints between the boards to ensure a continuous layer of foil. This continuous layer ensures a constant vapour barrier is formed and that no screed can seep in between boards. Of course it is always good practice to cover foil faced insulation boards when used in floor insulation with a damp proof membrane. Covering the insulation sheets in this way prevents any reaction that the foil may have with the screed.
Insulation jointing tape should also be used when installing boards in a loft space again this gives a continuous layer of foil creating a constant vapour barrier. We only sell the 100 mm wide foil insulation tape as feedback from many customers over the 11 years we have been in business tell us that it is easier to use than a narrow tape. Using narrower rolls of foil insulation tape can increase the risk of not sealing the boards correctly. When installing Multifoil insulation you always need to use this foil tape to ceal the joints. Multifoil should always be overlapped prior to the insulation tape being applies.
Be aware this tape is VERY sticky so care should always be taken when using it.
